Thomas Burton "Tommy" Turner, 68, of Newport News, VA and formerly of Edneyville, NC went to be with the Lord, Friday, May 11, 2007 at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News, Virginia. Tommy was employed with Mid Eastern Builders of Chesapeake, VA for many years. He was the son of the late Arthur and Jeanette Turner and was preceded in death by a step-son, Richard Yount Jr. He is survived by two sons, Thomas Burton Turner Jr. of Newport News, VA and Christopher Carl Turner (Heather) of Fayetteville, NC, sisters, Katie Gordon (Joel) of New Braunfels, TX, Ann Lange (Jack) of Atlanta, GA and Susan Fisher (Ken) of Milan, TN. He is also survived by a beloved aunt, Dramer Turner of Edneyville and six step-children, Rhonda Goe (Reed), Irma Hyder, Francis Pitts (Eddy), Patsy Jordan (Randy), Lou Anne Lay (Ken) and Steve Yount, his former wife and loving friend, Nola Caraway, nineteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with Rev. Bryan Melton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services in the church. The family requests that any memorials be made to the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Building Fund, 635 Gilliam Mountain Road, Hendersonville, NC 28792. Jackson Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
