Gilbert Franklin Thompson,90, of Duxbury, MA formerly Hendersonville, NC, died 3/27/06 at the Southwood Nursing Center in Norwell, MA after a long illness. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Allen) Thompson, he leaves three children, Peg Thompson of Attleboro, MA, Allen Thompson of Hendersonville, NC, and Zee (Hazel) Goldstein of Duxbury, MA. He leaves five grandchildren, Stephanie Shelton of Etowah, NC, Debra Walker of Hendersonville, NC,Jessica Thompson of Hendersonville, NC, Dean Robert of Weston, Conn, and Jenna Goldstein of Duxbury, MA and six great grandchildren. Gilbert was born in Riverside, NJ, grew up in Brooklyn, NY, became a carpenter and cabinet maker with his own business, retired from Huntington, NY and settled in Etowah, NC. He continued to work post-retirement at Camp Mondamin and Camp Greencove in Tuxedo, NC for many years. Funeral services will be held 11 am, Saturday, April 01, 2006 at the Chapel In The Pines of Jackson Funeral Service, 1101 Greenville Highway, Hendersonville, NC 28792. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services in the chapel. In lieu of flowers donations in Gilbert Thompson's memory may be made to Beacon Hospice, 8 Samoset St., Plymouth, MA 02360 or Pardee Pavilion Day Care Center, c/o Pardee Hospital, Hendersonville, NC 28729.
