Rev. Garland Ray Taylor, 91, of Hendersonville, went to be with the his Lord Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at Pardee Care Center following a period of declining health. He was born October 16, 1914 to the late Edgar Thurel Taylor and Ina Marlowe Taylor. He was the loving husband of the late Eva Jewell Taylor for 59 years. He graduated from Holmes Bible College, Greenville SC and Emmanuel College, Franklin Springs GA prior to serving his Lord as pastor of several churches in Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina. He retired from the Pentecostal Holiness Church of Covington Va. He is survived by two sisters, Juanita Case and her husband Eugene of Hendersonville and Mary Lytle of Fairview, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2 pm Friday June 23 at the Hendersonville Pentecostal Holiness Church on Upward Road , with the Revs. Anthony Craver, Lawrence Ownbey, Kenneth Lytle and Byron Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Nesbitt's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Fairview. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
