Stephen Bahrd Tanner, passed away Friday December 07, 2007 at the Laurels of Hendersonville. Born in Jacksonhole WY in 1936, he was the son of the late Bahrd and Helen Richards Tannner. He served a career it the US Army Corps of Engineers, serving in bothe Korea and Panama. He retired from the US Army in Panama in 1977, where he married his wife Marty and her 4 children in 1970. He was a past commander of both the American Legion and the VFW. He was a strong leader in the Boy and Girl Scouts and the Sea Explorers Cayuco Races for 17 years. In 1990 he moved to Hendersonville where he will be missed by his family and friends. Survivors include: his wife Marty, his four children Donald Dwayne, Amanda Ann, Edward Wilson, and Marta Lee Tanner. One grandson, Tanner C. McGee and his brother Fred of Spokane Washington. A private service will be held at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain NC.
