Billie Ray Shipman, 73, of Thomasville, NC went to be with the Lord. He was a native of Henderson County, son of the late Walter Owenby and Lula Mae Henderson Owenby. He was a US Army Veteran and a member of AA for 16 years. He is survived by three sons, Larry Ray Shipman of Asheville, Robert Lee Shipman of Trinity, NC and James Andrew Shipman of Asheville; two brothers, Gary Lee Owenby and wife Sarah of Sophia, NC and Bud Owenby and wife Linda of High Point, NC; one sister, Beverly Williams and husband Carroll of Archdale, NC; three grandchildren, Jeremiah Shipman of Hendersonville, Miranda Noelle Shipman of Asheville and Amber Nicole Shipman of Trinity, NC. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at the Chapel In The Pines of Jackson Funeral Service with Rev. Carroll Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with military honors conducted by the Henderson County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Henderson County Honor Guard, In Care of Rufus Pooch Pace, 901 Ashley Lane, Hendersonville, NC 28791-1710.
