Frances Elizabeth Greene Riley, 107 of Hendersonville passed away Wednesday October 24, 2007 at Carolina Village. She was born in Muskegan, MI in 1900. She was the daughter of the late George and Edna Gates Greene. She was preceded in death by her husband C. Lionel Riley, brothers Alden and Davis and sister Dr. Lois Greene, a Carolina Village resident for 15 years. Frances taught art in the Detroit School System for 32 years before retiring to Hendersonville in 1954. She became active in many groups using her skills in Arts and Crafts. She was a " founding mother" of Opportunity House and a long time member of the First Congregational Church. She took an interest during the developmental stages of Carolina Village and was one of its earliest residents, moving in September of 1974.She continued her activities there until recent years. Frances is survived by nephews and nieces Martha Boone and her husband Bronston of Columbia, TN, Betsy Zeek of Columbus NC, George Greene and his wife Margaret of Bath England, Richard Greeene and his wife Nancy of Charlotte NC and Lu Harmon and her husband Art of Wall, NJ. She is also survived by 13 grand neices and nephews and 16 great grand nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by the Overcash family of Henderson county A memorial service will be held in the Carolina Village Hall Saturday November 10, 2007 at 10:30 AM Memorial donations may be made to Carolina Village Endowment Fund, 600 Carolina Village Road Hendersonville 28793 and Four Seasons Hospice, 571 Allen Road Flat Rock NC 28731 Jackson Funeral Service and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
