Robert Smith "Bob" Reynolds, of Hendersonville and formerly of Trumbull, Connecticut, died Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at Mission Hospital in Asheville. He was U.S. Army Veteran, 10th Mountain Division (Ski Troops) serving during WWII . He was sent to Kiska, Alaska and then to Italy, spent over 3 ½ years in the division and was awarded the Bronze Star for service in Italy. He was a member and former Treasurer of the 10th Mountain Division Northeast Chapter Association and a member of the Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post # 77. He was a member of St. John In The Wilderness Episcopal Church and a member of the Men's Club of St. Johns In The Wilderness. He was a volunteer with Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care and served at the Elizabeth House. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Rita Cody Reynolds and a daughter, Roberta Lea Reynolds of Huntington, Connecticut. A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday March 7, St. John's In the Wilderness Episcopal Church with Dr. John Morton officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Hedrick-Rhodes V.F.W. Post # 5206, Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post # 77 and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter # 14. A private interment will be held at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care at: 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731. Jackson Funeral Service and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
