Betty Delores Young Rankin, 74, of Flat Rock died Saturday February 25, 2006 surrounded by her loving family at the Elizabeth House. She is the daughter of the late Artie and Mary Margaret Tucker Young. She was a resident of Henderson County since 1988 and was a member of East Flat Rock United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. and was active in community affairs. She is survived by her loving husband, William J. Rankin; two sons, Michael W. Rankin of Flat Rock and Christopher Mark Rankin of Oyster Bay, NY; three daughters, Susan Gail Moriarty of Hauppauge, NY, Tracey Ann McCrain and Terri Lynn Rankin both of Hendersonville; a sister, Beverly Cook of Tucson, AZ; ten grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 7:30 pm Tuesday February 28, 2006 at Balfour Baptist Church. The Rev. Joe Mullins and the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. will be conducting the services. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 pm Tuesday night at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care at; 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731. Jackson Funeral Service and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
