James Roy Poplin, 55, of Hendersonville, NC died Friday, June 29,2007 at his home. He is the son of Margarett Wilson of Flat Rock and the late James Paul Poplin Jr. He was a US Army Veteran serving two tours in the Vietnam War as a Green Beret in the 82nd Airborne Division. He attended Double Springs Baptist Church and loved to fish. Surviving in addition to his mother is his girlfriend, May Wright of Hendersonville; two sons, James Matthew Poplin and Mark Lee Poplin both of Flat Rock; a daughter, Kim Derden of Fairview; two brothers, Paul Poplin and Johnny Poplin both of Flat Rock; a sister, Judy Bailey of Rutherfordton; four grandchildren and five nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 2:30 pm Sunday, July 08, 2007 at Double Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Joe George officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Henderson County Honor Guard. Jackson Funeral Service and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
