Harley M. Owenby, 92 of Hendersonville went home to be with the Lord on Friday October 28, 2005 in his home. A native of McDowell County he had been a resident of Henderson County for the past 60 years. He was the son of the late Eli M. and Ida Lee Conner Owenby and the husband of Daisy Dalton Owenby of Hendersonville . He was preceded in death by 3 brothers Lennon, Press and Earnest Owenby and 3 sisters Minnie Nelson, Ella Dean and Gevena Tyson. A World War II veteran, he had operated Owenby Produce for many years. He was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his wife survivors include ; his son Wayne Owenby and his wife Madelyn, his daughter Carolyn Shipman all of Hendersonvile, his brother Tom Owenby of Black Mountain, his sister Pauline Anderson of Cincinnati Ohio, 5 grandchildren , 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Sunday 3 pm at Broad River Baptist Church with the Revs. Dale Gilbert and Jeff McCury officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery . The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and at other times will be at his residence. Jackson Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
