Virginia Louise Burnette Orr, 98, of Hendersonville, passed away on the 25th day of August, 2006 at the Elizabeth House, Flat Rock, NC. She was born in Haywood County on the 10th day of May, 1908. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tommy Burnette and Hattie Cogburn Burnette; her husband, Oliver Sample Orr; a daughter, Glenna Sue Matthews; a son, Oliver Max Orr; a brother, Arthur Burnette and three sisters, Maybelle Haynes, Josie Owenby and Ruth Riddle. She is survived by her daughter, Tomasine Orr Tennant of Crossnore, NC, a daughter-in-law, Louise Orr of Hendersonville; a sister-in-law, Katherine McGraw of Hendersonville; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was a long time member of Moore's Grove United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the Henderson County Homemakers Extension Program for many years. A funeral service for Mrs. Orr will be held at the Moore's Grove United Methodist Church on Hwy 64 E. Hendersonville, NC on the 27th day of August 2006 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Stephen Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall of the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care at: 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
