Henry Nelms, 93, of Ft. Pierce, Florida and formerly of Hendersonville died Monday September 26, 2005 in Ft. Pierce, Florida. He was a native of Georgia and the son of the late Thomas and Pellan Nelms and was preceded in death by his wife Vestie Nix Haynes Nelms, a grandson, Joe Houston Haynes five brothers, Sam, H. D., Tom, Arthur and Omar. He was a US Army Veteran of WW II, was a member of the Hedrick-Rhodes V.F.W. Post # 5206 and was a member of Mt. Home Baptist Church. He is survived by four stepsons Paul Haynes and wife Jane of Ft. Pierce, Florida, Jerry Haynes and wife Sherry of Edneyville, Ben Haynes and wife Shelby of Horse Shoe and Bobby Haynes of Edneyville; one stepdaughter, Betty West and husband Larry of Georgia; three sisters, Gertrude Cravey, Rudel Dennis, Dorothy Hannah all of Georgia; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:30 pm Saturday October 01, 2005 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with Rev. Bryan Melton officiating. Burial will follow at the church Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Hedrick-Rhodes V.F.W. Post # 5206, Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post # 77 and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter # 14.. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 pm in the church prior to services. Jackson Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
