Thelma Blackwell Neal, 88, of Hendersonville, NC passed away Sunday, January 28, 2007 after a brief stay at the Elizabeth House. She was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, the daughter of the late William Sheridan Blackwell and Carrie Lively Blackwell and was preceded in death by her husband and son, Joseph Mitchell Neal Sr. and Jr. She was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by four children: Ruth Neal Thomas and husband David of Connelly Springs, NC, Harvey Edward Neal of Hendersonville, Marie Neal Wilson and husband Michael of Hendersonville and Wayne Glenn Neal of Asheville, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at the Chapel In The Pines of Jackson Funeral Service with Dr. Buddy Mullinax officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Elizabeth House, 511 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
