Guyva Jane Nanney, 82, of the Broad River Community, Buncombe County, NC died March 26th, 2006 at Park Ridge Hospital, Fletcher. She was born in McDowell County, NC may 12th, 1923 to the late Thomas R. Nanney and Carrie Lee Ownbey Nanney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Tressie Davis and brothers, Amiel, Otto, Alfred and Bert Nanney. She was a charter member of Bald Mountain Baptist Church where she was church clerk and Sunday School teacher for many years. She is survived by a sister, Reeda Haynes of Hendersonville, brothers, Charles Clifford Nanney of Black Mountain and Stuart Nanney of Clyde. A funeral service will be held 2 pm Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at Bald Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. Patrick Handley, Rev. Joey Haynes and Rev. Charlie Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bald Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Virginia Lytle, 1782 Shumont Road, Black Mountain, NC 28711 Jackson Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
