L'Neve Saunders Lyda of Edneyville passed away Wednesday January 11, 2006 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Wilmington, NC and had lived in Henderson County for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Ward and Lewan Wolfe Saunders and was preceded in death by two brothers, Ward and "Babe" Saunders, two sisters, Lewan Emerson and Patricia McCrain and a grandson, Jacob Lyda. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and was a very active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where she had become secretary of the Episcopal Church Women. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Ellis B. Lyda; two sons, Duane Lyda and wife Reatha of Hendersonville and Wes Lyda and wife Jan of Edneyville; two daughters, Gayle Hart and husband Ray of Arden and Sharon Hopkins and husband Eric of Hayward, California; a brother, Donald Saunders of East Flat Rock; three sisters, Betty Stepp of Hendersonville, Beatrice Herman of Hickory, NC and Peggy Elmer of Boise, Idaho; four grandchildren, Christopher and Kevin Hart and Jennifer and Amanda Lyda, two step-grandchildren, Sydney and Coleman Hopkins, a great granddaughter, Lindsey Rezentes and several nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held 11 am Saturday January 14, 2006 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with Rev. Ron Greiser officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home.
