Betty Jane "BJ" Roland Laughter, 75, of Valley Hill, NC went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, September 26, 2007 unexpectedly after a struggle with cancer. She was a native of Yancey County and had lived in Henderson County for the past 57 years. She was the daughter of the late Herman "Paw" Roland and Rose Pate Roland and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Bernice Roland and Joann Garren and a brother, Ben K. Roland. She was a member of Valley Hill Baptist Church, member of the Valley Hill Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She worked for 32 years at the Asheville Airport and 10 years at Kenmure Country Club. She loved working and helping people and was a Girl Scout Leader. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Roy "Bush" Laughter; three daughters and their husbands, Angie and Herman Hollifield of Marion, NC, Tammy and Alonzo Manley of Valley Hill and Robin and Ronnie Gray of Mountain Home, NC; five grandchildren who were "Nana's Angels", Ray Hollifield and wife Stephanie, Jesse Gray, Angel Pearson, Krystal Hollifield and Cody Gray; one great grandson, Garrett Hollifield and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Friday, September 28, 2007 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel In The Pines of Jackson Funeral Service with Rev. Mike Bennett and Rev. Danny Pridmore officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at the funeral home.
