Juanita Pittillo Lancaster, a wonderful, devoted, wife, loving mother to her daughter and grandchildren, age 84, of Hendersonville, NC passed away Friday, February 15, 2008 at the Elizabeth House.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County the daughter of the late Clyde Duffie Pittillo and Ruth Townsend Pittillo and was also preceded in death by a sister, Agnes Morcom Tidrick.
She worked faithfully for 20 years with her aunt and uncle, John and Manolah Sinclair and also ran the Merita Bread Store.
She devoted all of her life to Fruitland Baptist Church serving the church in many capacities including treasurer for 47 years and singing in the church choir.
She loved her garden and being outdoors, cooking, taking care of others and was known for her delicious pound cakes.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Roscoe Lancaster: her daughter, Jayne Stepp and husband Stanley of Hendersonville; four grandchildren, Ryan Stepp, Kyle Stepp and fiancé Brianna Ward, Nita Stepp and Nora Stepp and a sister, Judy Johnson of Tuxedo.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, February 17, 2008 at Fruitland Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Smith and Rev. John Rhymer officiating. Burial will follow in Fruitland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ryan and Kyle Stepp, Robert Marlowe, Mike McGaha, Wayne Barnwell and Barry Morcom.
The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the church and at other times will be at the home of her daughter.
