Joseph Fred Hyder, 79, of Hendersonville, NC went to be with the Lord, Sunday, August 06, 2006 after a long battle with Alzheimers. He was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County the son of the late the late J. Hampton Hyder and Selina Justice Hyder and was preceded in death by three brothers, Willie Hyder, Ben Hyder and Conley Hyder and three sisters, Gladys Wright, Sue Corn and Jeneal Cline. He was a US Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Hedrick-Rhodes V.F.W. post # 5206 and the Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post #77. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Catherine A. Hyder; one son, Fred Hyder and wife Vicki of Hendersonville; one brother, J. H. Hyder Jr. and wife Ruth of Hendersonville; two sisters, Juanita H. Redmon and Dovie Holden and her husband Bill both of Hendersonville; two grandchildren, Brian Hyder and Sherry Gabbard and husband Jim all of Hendersonville and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 Friday, August 11, 2006 at the Chapel In The Pines of Jackson Funeral Service with Rev. Harold McKinnish and Rev. Dan Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow in Refuge Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Billy Holden, Brian Hyder, Wayne Hyder, Gary Hendricks, Paul Hoxit and Virgil Bodenhamer and honorary pallbearer will be Mitchell Redmon. The family will receive friends on Thursday night from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care at: 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731, or to the Alzheimer's Association of WNC; 31 College Place Suite- D320, Asheville, N.C. 28801-2644, or to one's favorite charity.
