Charles Furman Hill, 89, of East Flat Rock went on to be with the Lord and his family on Friday, March 10, 2006, at the Pardee Care Center following a long illness.
He was a native of Henderson County and lived in East Flat Rock where he was owner and operator of Hill's General Store for 50 years along with his devoted wife, Elsie Cagle Hill who preceded
him in death in 1995. He was the son of the late Sam P. and Edna Pace Hill. He was a member of East Flat Rock First Baptist Church.
His passions in life were hard work, friends, church, patiently and lovingly caring for his wife until her death and never missing a great-grandchild's birthday party.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Hill Westall and husband, Earl K. Westall of Zirconia, NC and Vivian Tucker and husband, Bill Tucker of Prince Edward Island, Canada; Two sisters Edith Ross and June Morgan and husband, Perry Morgan of East Flat Rock; One brother Jack Hill and wife, Margaret Ann Hill of
Etowah; 7 grandchildren Tommy Burke and wife, Jill of Hendersonville: and Jimmy Burke of Puerto Rico; Chris Burke and wife Dawn, of Kings Mountain; Jennifer Londre of Jupiter, Florida; E. Kenneth Westall Jr. and wife, Melinda of York, SC; Monica Westall Ward and husband Jonathan of Zirconia, NC and Charles Scott Westall and wife, Dawn of Matthews. NC; 12 great-grandchildren Millicent Burke-Sinclair and husband Joey of Kings
Mountain and Janey Burke of Hendersonville; Anna and Krissa Burke of Kings Mountain; Elizabeth Londre of Jupiter, Florida; Tyler and Makayla Westall of York, SC; Carol, Emma, and Jared Ward of Zirconia, NC. Sam and Jake Westall of Matthews, NC.; many nieces and nephews; a dedicated and compassionate caregiver and beloved friend Cynthia Whitted and special friends Narvin and Sally Patterson, Bobby Stepp and Faye Connor and many great caregivers!!
A funeral service will be held 3 pm Sunday March 12, 2006 at the East Flat Rock First Baptist Church with Rev. Harold McKinnish and Rev. Jimmy Tarrant officiating. Burial will follow in Refuge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 to 3:00 pm at the church and at other times will be at the home of Nancy and Earl Westall.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to East Flat Rock First Baptist building fund or the His Kids Daycare program.
