Stephen Ervin Gilbert, 35, loving brother, uncle and friend, of Edneyville, NC has gone to be with his Lord and Saviour Monday, February 5, 2007. He was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County the son of the late Ervin M. Gilbert and Wilma McGuinn Gilbert. He just celebrated his 15th anniversary working for General Electric, was an avid outdoorsman, past member of the Edneyville Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. He is survived by his sister, Sylvia Mullis and husband John Mullis Jr. of Edneyville, niece, Stephanie Smith and husband Derek of Youngsville, NC, nephew, John Mullis III and wife Angie of Wake Forest, NC, two great nieces, Tory Mullis and Meagan Smith, two great nephews, Kristian Smith and Braden Mullis and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, February 08, 2007 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with Rev. Bryan Melton and Rev. Dean Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service in the church and will also be at the home of Sylvia and John Mullis.
