Lois C. Fischthal, 89, of Hendersonville, NC died Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at the Elizabeth House. She was a member of Shaw's Creek Baptist Church, was a private music teacher for vocals, piano and organ. Choir Director for East Flat Rock United Methodist Church, sang in the Hendersonville Chorale, played for musicals at the Hendersonville Little Theater, Absolute Theatre, East Henderson High School. She was a member of the Second Wind Hall of Fame. Played piano for local nursing homes and civic organizations and was past president for three years at the Summer Path Mobile Village Association. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorene Rhodes. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years , Dr. Jacob Henry Fischthal, two sons, Barry Fischthal of Golden, CO and Glenn Fischthal of San Francisco, CA; a daughter, Lynne Taranto of Apalachin, NY; one sister, June Rutt of DeMoines, Iowa; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 3:00 pm, Sunday, June 10, 2007 at Shaws Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Carpenter officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Elizabeth House, 511 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731. Jackson Funeral Service and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
