Roger Eugene English, 75, of Mills River passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2007 unexpectedly at his home. He was the son of the late Harvey Eugene English and Cora Maxwell English. He was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict and worked in the Maintenance Department at General Electrical before retiring in 1991 after 35 years of service. He was a very active member of Boylston Baptist Church serving on the Cemetery Committee and was Publicity Chairman. Roger was very loved and will be missed by everyone. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ruth Barnes English; a special uncle, Lester English of Mills River and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 4:00 pm Thursday, May 24, 2007 at Boylston Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Burress officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Hedrick-Rhodes V.F.W. Post # 5206, Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post # 77 and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter # 14. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services in the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boylston Baptist Church Bus Fund, 9949 Boylston Highway, Mills River, NC 28759. Jackson Funeral Service and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
