Robert Albern Drake, 90, of Big Willow, NC went to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 7, 2007. He died peacefully at the home of Ronnie and April Drake. He the son of John Robert Drake and Ella Heatherly Drake and was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Huggins Drake, a daughter Doris Ward, an infant son, James Robert Drake and a brother Robert Drake Jr. He was a native of Jackson County and had lived in Henderson County for most of his life. He was a US Army veteran of WWII and a member and deacon of Beulah Baptist Church. Robert was an avid hunter and loved his grandkids, his church and enjoyed helping anyone that he could. He is survived by David Lee Drake of Flat Rock, Ronald Larry Drake and George Edward Drake both of Hendersonville; one daughter, Betty Osteen of Tuxedo; eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 10:00 am Friday, August 10, 2007 at Beulah Baptist Church with Pastor Dewey Barnwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors provided by the Henderson County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home. Jackson Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
