Lois Denslow, 95, born September 27, 1911, in Winchester, Washington died at home with her family in Sapphire, NC on Saturday, September 1, 2007. Lois was the daughter of Horace Allen Hurlbut and Ida May Daugherty Hurlbut. During her life she was a dedicated volunteer for her church, community and was always available when needed by her family. Lois will be missed by her family and friends but will live on through her descendents. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, William Eugene Avery and Lawrence E. Denslow; her sister Helen Hurlbut Curless; her brothers Marvin William Hurlbut, Wallace Allen Hurlbut; her two sons, John Allen Avery, William Eugune Avery Jr. and her son-in-law, James William Griffith. She is survived by three daughters Caryl Larine Avery, of Sapphire, NC, Wilma Jean Avery Hoovler, her husband Charles, of The Plains, VA, Susan Elaine Avery Wolf, her husband George, of Sapphire, NC, one daughter-in-law, Betty "Sandi" Avery Griffith, of Millington, TN and one sister-in-law Eunice Hurlbut, of Chapman, KS. Lois has 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held at the Rosman United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at 2:00 pm. In Rosman, NC. The Reverend Rosaleen Feeser will officiate. The burial will be on September 15th at the Evergreen Cemetery in Enterprise, FL.
