E. Gaylerd Davis, 88, of Edneyville, NC went to be with the Lord Friday February 24, 2006 at Pardee Hospital. He was the son of the late Merton and Mildred Ingram Davis and was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Davis Prince, three sisters and two brothers. He had lived in Henderson County since 1947 coming from Concord, New Hampshire. He taught Vocational Agriculture in Edneyville for over 30 years. He was a very active leader in multiple local community activities, belonged to the Grange for over 60 years and was a Music Leader and Sunday School Teacher at Edneyville United Methodist Church where he was a member. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Esther T. Davis; two sons, Sandy Davis of Greenville, SC and Taylor Davis of San Diego, CA; a daughter, Carolyn Ward of Edneyville; a son-in-law, Larry Prince of Sparta, NC; a brother, Norman Davis of Paris, TX; three sisters, Muriel Pierce of Belleview, Florida, Gwen Noel of Culver, Indiana and Nonie Petermen of Mocksville, NC; eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 11 am Monday February 27, 2006 at Edneyville United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Byrum and Rev. Lewis VunCannon officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Hedrick-Rhodes V.F.W. Post # 5206, Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post # 77 and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter # 14. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 to 5:30 pm at Jackson Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Edneyville United Methodist Church; P.O.
