Max "Ray" Collins went to be with the Lord on Sunday November 13, 2005 after an extended illness. He was born on October 20, 1942 in Henderson County the son of the late Vernon Ray and Charity McCrain Collins. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Steven Holbert. He is survived by his best friend, companion and wife, Jo Ann Robinson Collins, a brother, Frank Collins and wife Gail of Flat Rock, daughter, Michelle Morrow and husband Larry, Son, Michael and wife Vicky, one stepson, Scott Holbert and wife Marie, a brother-in-law, David Robinson and wife Una Mae of Green River, grandchildren, Jessica Paige Hill, Savannah Diane Morrow, John Dalton Collins and Mackenzie Christian Morrow, an aunt, Della Mae Watts and many cousins and friends. He will be remembered for his avid love of the outdoors, fishing and deer hunting. He loved bluegrass and gospel music, especially when his friends were there to listen with him. The highlight of his life were his grandchildren, watching them play, listening to their stories and being proud of their accomplishments. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A funeral service will be held 2 pm Wednesday November 16, 2005 at the Chapel In The Pines of Jackson Funeral Service with Rev. Eddie Conard officiating. Burial will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:00 pm in the chapel and at other times will be at the residence.
