Michael Wilkinson Boyd, 59, of Hendersonville, NC died unexpectedly Monday, April 09, 2007 in Asheville, NC. He was the son of Mary Boyd of Leesburg, VA and the late Col. William B. Boyd. He had lived in Rockingham, NC, Falls Church, VA and Fredericksburg, VA before moving to Henderson County seven years ago. He earned his Undergraduate Degree from East Carolina University and his Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Virginia. He was an English Teacher, Librarian, Quiz Bowl Coach, Football Coach in Virginia and North Carolina (Richmond Senior High School, 1989 - 2000), Author Deeper Water, Musician and Writer, an Ardent Democrat and devoted husband and father. He is survived by his loving wife, Melissa Boyd, two sons, Jeffrey Boyd of Cambridge, MA and Michael Christopher Boyd of Richmond, VA; a daughter, Carrie Boyd of Gainesville, FL; two brothers, Patrick Boyd of Springfield, VA and Andrew Boyd of Leesburg, VA; two sisters, Lauren Summers of Valparaiso, IN and Susan Guth of Valrico, FL. A memorial service will be held 11:30 am, Saturday, April 14, 2007 at the Chapel at Lansdowne, Virginia. Donations may be made to the Parkinson Association of the Carolinas or to the charity of personal choice. Jackson Funeral Service and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
