Mildred Mable Hyder Smith, 77, of Hendersonville went home to be with her lord on Firday, May 23, 2008 at Pardee Memorial Hospital.
A native and life long resident of Henderson County, she was born on June 7, 1930, to the late Leola and Charles Hyder. She was married to Clarence H. Smith on July 5, 1950, who preceded her in death on April 18, 1996. She enjoyed gospel music, needlepoint and gardening. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers Harley Hyder, Barley Hyder, Burgeon Hyder, and Wilson Hyder; her sisters Annie Hyder, Bertha Derksen and Ollie Stepp.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Ledbetter and husband Jeffrey of Hendersonville and her sons Clarence Smith and wife Janice of South Bend, Indiana, Kenneth Smith of Hendersonville, Jack Smith and wife Lisa of Penrose; grandsons, Robert Smith, Thomas Smith, Joshua Smith and Matthew Smith; sister Alice Corn and husband Millard Corn, brother Boyd Hyder and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 3pm on Monday at Refuge Baptist Church with the Reverend Alvin Melton officiating. Visitation will be held at Jackson Funeral Service at 5pm to 6:30pm on Sunday. The burial service will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
