He was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County and was the son of Gertrude Kelly Maybin of Zirconia and the late Columbus "Buck" Maybin. He was the owner and operator of Monroe's Auto Clean Up Shop in East Flat Rock, a longtime member of the Hendersonville Elks Lodge #1616 BPOE, and was a member of Mtn. Valley Baptist Church. In addition to his mother he is survived by a son, Patrick Maybin of Crab Creek; two daughters, Candi Maybin of Tampa, Florida and Marlo Maybin of Hendersonville; a brother, Terry Maybin of Zirconia; five sisters, Delphenia Sherman, Thelma Cox and Dianne Hoots all of Zirconia, Betty Joines of East Flat Rock and Shirley Erwin of Tuxedo; four grandchildren, Tyler Maybin, Garrett Maybin, Grant Maybin and Isabella Maybin, the mother of his children, Joann Maybin Turner and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2 pm Sunday October 30, 2005 at Mtn. Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Oliver Skerrett and Rev. Norris Wright officiating. The Elk's Lodge #1616 will be paying tribute to their brother by performing the Elk's Rest Ceremony. Burial will follow in the Pearson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 pm Saturday night at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of his sister, Delphenia Sherman.
