David Alexander Gurley passed away at home on Thursday, March 20. He was born August 13, 1941 in Charlotte, NC and was the son of the late Benjamin James Gurley and Carrie Lee Stutts Gurley. He is survived by his wife Jane Thompson Gurley of the home. He is also survived by a son David A. Gurley, Jr. and his wife Wendy Cantrell Gurley of Honolulu, Hawaii: a daughter June Fogle and her husband Bobby Fogle of Winston-Salem, NC; and a daughter Deborah Huitt of Hendersonville, NC He is survived by grandchildren: Christopher David Gurley, Caitlin Suzanne Gurley, Brett Russell, Fogle Tatum and Elise Fogle. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church, Hendersonville, NC In 1949, David came to live at The Methodist Children's Home in Winston-Salem, NC. He lived there and was nurtured there until 1960 when he graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School. He worked for over 37 years at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company's aluminum packaging division, RJR Archer in Winston-Salem, NC. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
