Dennis Edward Dalton Sr., 71, of Hendersonville, NC died Tuesday, February 19, 2008 after a long illness.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, the son of the late Charles F. and Laura Justice Dalton.
He was a veteran of the US Army. He was a loving husband, father and a doting grandfather. He was an apple farmer and working the land was his passion and he loved the mountains.
Most everyone knew him as "Dink." He didn't know a stranger and was always lending a helping hand. His family will remember him for his courage, strength and tremendous positive attitude. He never complained and kept his sense of humor up to his last breath. He will be missed and never forgotten!
He was survived by his wife of 53 years, Joyce Kidd Dalton; two sons Eddie Dalton of Edneyville and Rod Dalton of Blacksburg, VA; two daughters, Pam Reese of Raleigh, NC and Lois Fulcher of Mills River; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and seven brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held at Mountain Home Baptist Church, 3:00 PM, Friday, February 22, 2008, with Rev. Craig Garren and Rev. Jimmy Justice officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors to be conducted by the Henderson County Honor Guard.
